Frog's leg-up: Frogs work together

This red-eyed tree frog must be hopping mad hauling his mate around the jungle.
The struggling amphibian gave his companion a boost in a ribbeting display of teamwork as one struggled to clamber up a slippery branch.

Red-eyed tree frogs' striking colour scheme is a defence mechanism against predators.

A nocturnal animal, they blend in with the leaves to avoid detection in the daytime - but should a bat or bird swoop in, they open their red eyes wide to startle them.
They also display their blue-and-yellow striped sides and thighs and orange/red feet to confuse the predator further.
That gives the clever amphibian, which sticks to leaves through suction cups on its fingers and toes, time to make its escape.
Incidentally, given its choice of home, it tends to climb and walk rather than hop like other frogs.
Snakes and spiders also hunt red-eyed tree frogs.
