Ad on popular portal: Woman on sale for Rs 2,000

KOLKATA: Sub kuch bikta hai (Everything Sells). When OLX India, which claims to be the next generation of free online classifieds, adopted this slogan, those in charge of the portal may not have thought it would come to this.

On October 26, somebody uploaded the photograph of a young woman in an advertisement and offered her for Rs 2,000. The name and telephone number of a contact person was also given.

Captioned '22Years girl — Kolkata', the classified advertisement said: "I am Soumen Barui i am the ajent of the girl. If u interest enjoying this girl please contract me. please not on fake call."

When Barui was contacted on the telephone number published, he lost his cool initially and said that it was a wrong number. On being told that the caller wasn't interested whether he is actually an 'ajent', he calmed down.
"You don't know how many calls I have received since Sunday. People have been calling up and asking about some girl. Finally, I checked the internet and realized that somebody had played this prank on me. I don't know why somebody would want to cause me such distress. Finally, I lodged a complaint with the Bijpur police station in Kanchrapara. I realized that if I don't do so, I am liable to get into legal trouble. I shall visit the police station on Wednesday again and insist that the authorities try and find out who the prankster is," Barui said.
TOI got in touch with Amarjit Batra, country manager, OLX India, on Tuesday afternoon. He wasn't even aware that something like this has taken place. Keeping the line on hold, he checked the site, and was taken aback by what he discovered.

A car Which Ended Up On A Roof

Police in South Carolina are investigating how a car ended up on the roof of a Forest Acres home early Saturday.
According to WIS-TV, an officer with Columbia police tailed the vehicle after witnessing what looked like a drug deal. The driver took off, driving erratically without headlights on.
The officer followed the vehicle and eventually came upon it wrecked on the roof of a suburban home.

The suspect was nowhere to be found, but investigators found crack cocaine and cash in the vehicle.
Homeowner Steve Taylor told WIS that he was awakened by a loud bang around 2:30 a.m., and was told by police in his yard that there was a car on the roof.
"I stepped out into the yard and looked back up, and there was a car on the roof." Taylor said. "It was alarming as you can imagine... I still didn't believe it, once I saw it."

Teenager goes out drinking in Oldham - and wakes up in PARIS

What a Triomphe: Luke at monument
Luke at monument

Most of us have done something stupid after a night on the tiles... but not many of us woken up in Paris.
But that’s what happened to Luke Harding after going out in Oldham.
Luke, 19, was going home in a taxi from the Tokyo Project nightclub when he decided to visit the Eiffel Tower.
He had his passport in his pocket because he had been using it as ID to prove he was old enough to drink - and told the cabby to take him to Manchester Airport where he boarded an early morning flight to France.
The next thing he remembered was waking up in a toilet cubicle in Charles De Gaulle Airport, almost 400 miles from his home in Oldham.

He later tweeted a photo of himself stood next to the Eiffel Tower and a second pic with the caption: “Sat outside the Arc De Triumph eating a croissant.”
The sheet metal worker said: “I went to drop my friend off at his house in a taxi but for some reason I randomly decided that I don’t want to go home but stay out instead.
“I found my passport which I’d been using for ID and was looking at this flight app on my phone and it was saying something like ‘cheap flights to Paris’.
“I decided the best thing to do was book a flight to see the Eiffel tower. It was just a spur of the moment thing and seemed like a good idea at the time.
“The taxi driver asked me about where I was going and what I was going to do in Paris but I couldn’t bring myself to tell him I was a drunken idiot who spontaneously booked a trip to Paris, so I sold him some story that I was a junior doctor going to a convention.
“I don’t recall much of the flight because I fell asleep and then the next thing I know I find myself lay next to a toilet in a cubicle in the middle of Charles De Gaulle airport and thinking what the hell have I just done?
“I rang my mum and said ‘don’t panic mum but can you pick me up at Manchester Airport at 8pm?’
"Then I told her what I had done and she went mental at me.
“I had 8 hours to kill so I booked a bus into Paris and had a wander around.

"I did get to see the Eiffel Tower but there was a massive queue so I didn’t get to go up it but at least I had my picture taken outside the Arc de Triumph and I went to a cafe for coffee and a croissant and sat outside.”
Since then Luke has become a Twitter sensation as news of his big night out spread.
Luke was inundated with messages from Twitter users amused by his escapade.
Dale Harris said: ‘“Don’t even know Luke Harding but I want to shake his hand.”

Catarina Migliorini Attempts Second Online Virginity Auction

The Brazilian college student who attempted to sell her virginity through an online auction last year is hoping lightning will strike twice.
In October, 2012, Catarina Migliorini was offered $780,000 for her virginity from a Japanese millionaire who bid for the privilege through a controversial online auction.
That deal was never consummated, but now she is attempting to do it again through her own website, VirginsWanted2.com.
"Well, after being featured by so many media outlets in so many countries, I decided to actually auction off my virginity," she told The Huffington Post by email via a translator.
The bidding ends Dec. 12, but Migliorini said the minimum bid for her to get into bed is $100,000. She told the Brazilian website PurePeople.com.br that her goal is to get $1.5 million.
Migliorini's previous auction was part of a proposed documentary called Virgins Wanted being made by Australian filmmaker Justin Sisely.
The auction made Migliorini a celebrity and Playboy cover girl in her native country, but also aroused controversy and skepticism.
