Guinness Record For Video Game Collection:10,607 Games
Thomasson is the newly crowned world record holder for having the largest collection of video games. He is featured in a two-page spread in the just-released "Guinness World Records 2014 Gamer's Edition."
the path to the world record had a couple of restarts. He sold off his collection twice, first in 1989 to raise money for a Sega Genesis, then again to pay for his 1998 wedding. ("I was heavy into collecting when we married so she knew what she was getting into," he says of his wife, JoAnn.).
Since then, Thomasson has methodically rebuilt the collection, averaging two games per day on a strict $3,000-a-year budget which means never paying full price.
He estimates the collection is worth $700,000 to $800,000.
Thomasson designs games and teaches 2D animation, game design and the history of video games at Canisius College in Buffalo. He also writes on the topic for magazines and books.
Guinness lists the number of games in Thomasson's record-breaking collection at 10,607, though he said the number exceeds 11,000 now, a year after the official count and after discovering forgotten stashes of games after the counting crew left.
The record was previously held by Richard Lecce in 2010 at 8,616 games

A Man Had Sex With A GOAT
The victim of a sexual assault showed up to court to face her attacker. She was a goat.
The goat Gona was convicted of sexually abusing was present, brought there by prosecutors as evidence in the case.
Gona was caught committing the crime last Monday, Prosecuting Chief Inspector Jimmy Kema said.
The neighbor told prosecutors he went to urinate behind a bush, when he noticed clothes hanging on a tree. He investigated and found Gona, naked, having sex with the goat. The victim was tied up to graze, according to The Star.
The owner of the goat was alerted, along with other villagers who caught Gona engaging in the abuse. Police
quickly took him into custody.
This goat was abused by a baaaaa-d man. |
A report from the district's veterinary officer noted that blood was found coming from its vulva, further evidence of sexual abuse.
Though Gona asked for a pardon in court, saying he had a disabled wife who depended on him, Magistrate Mrs. Muthoni Nzibe gave him the 10-year sentence -- a record sentence in that court for bestiality.

Ad on popular portal: Woman on sale for Rs 2,000
KOLKATA: Sub kuch bikta hai (Everything Sells). When OLX India, which
claims to be the next generation of free online classifieds, adopted
this slogan, those in charge of the portal may not have thought it would
come to this.
On October 26, somebody uploaded the photograph of a young woman in an advertisement and offered her for Rs 2,000. The name and telephone number of a contact person was also given.
Captioned '22Years girl — Kolkata', the classified advertisement said: "I am Soumen Barui i am the ajent of the girl. If u interest enjoying this girl please contract me. please not on fake call."
When Barui was contacted on the telephone number published, he lost his cool initially and said that it was a wrong number. On being told that the caller wasn't interested whether he is actually an 'ajent', he calmed down.
"You don't know how many calls I have received since Sunday. People have been calling up and asking about some girl. Finally, I checked the internet and realized that somebody had played this prank on me. I don't know why somebody would want to cause me such distress. Finally, I lodged a complaint with the Bijpur police station in Kanchrapara. I realized that if I don't do so, I am liable to get into legal trouble. I shall visit the police station on Wednesday again and insist that the authorities try and find out who the prankster is," Barui said.
TOI got in touch with Amarjit Batra, country manager, OLX India, on Tuesday afternoon. He wasn't even aware that something like this has taken place. Keeping the line on hold, he checked the site, and was taken aback by what he discovered.

A car Which Ended Up On A Roof
Police in South Carolina are investigating how a car ended up on the roof of a Forest Acres home early Saturday.
According to WIS-TV, an officer with Columbia police tailed the vehicle after witnessing what looked like a drug deal. The driver took off, driving erratically without headlights on.
The officer followed the vehicle and eventually came upon it wrecked on the roof of a suburban home.
The suspect was nowhere to be found, but investigators found crack cocaine and cash in the vehicle.
Homeowner Steve Taylor told WIS that he was awakened by a loud bang around 2:30 a.m., and was told by police in his yard that there was a car on the roof.
"I stepped out into the yard and looked back up, and there was a car on the roof." Taylor said. "It was alarming as you can imagine... I still didn't believe it, once I saw it."

Teenager goes out drinking in Oldham - and wakes up in PARIS
Luke at monument |
Most of us have done something stupid after a night on the tiles... but not many of us woken up in Paris.
But that’s what happened to Luke Harding after going out in Oldham.
Luke, 19, was going home in a taxi from the Tokyo Project nightclub when he decided to visit the Eiffel Tower.
He had his passport in his pocket because he had been using it as ID to prove he was old enough to drink - and told the cabby to take him to Manchester Airport where he boarded an early morning flight to France.
The next thing he remembered was waking up in a toilet cubicle in Charles De Gaulle Airport, almost 400 miles from his home in Oldham.
He later tweeted a photo of himself stood next to the Eiffel Tower and a second pic with the caption: “Sat outside the Arc De Triumph eating a croissant.”
The sheet metal worker said: “I went to drop my friend off at his house in a taxi but for some reason I randomly decided that I don’t want to go home but stay out instead.
“I found my passport which I’d been using for ID and was looking at this flight app on my phone and it was saying something like ‘cheap flights to Paris’.
“I decided the best thing to do was book a flight to see the Eiffel tower. It was just a spur of the moment thing and seemed like a good idea at the time.
“The taxi driver asked me about where I was going and what I was going to do in Paris but I couldn’t bring myself to tell him I was a drunken idiot who spontaneously booked a trip to Paris, so I sold him some story that I was a junior doctor going to a convention.
“I don’t recall much of the flight because I fell asleep and then the next thing I know I find myself lay next to a toilet in a cubicle in the middle of Charles De Gaulle airport and thinking what the hell have I just done?
“I rang my mum and said ‘don’t panic mum but can you pick me up at Manchester Airport at 8pm?’
"Then I told her what I had done and she went mental at me.
“I had 8 hours to kill so I booked a bus into Paris and had a wander around.
Luke was inundated with messages from Twitter users amused by his escapade.
Dale Harris said: ‘“Don’t even know Luke Harding but I want to shake his hand.”

Catarina Migliorini Attempts Second Online Virginity Auction
In October, 2012, Catarina Migliorini was offered $780,000 for her virginity from a Japanese millionaire who bid for the privilege through a controversial online auction.
That deal was never consummated, but now she is attempting to do it again through her own website, VirginsWanted2.com.
"Well, after being featured by so many media outlets in so many countries, I decided to actually auction off my virginity," she told The Huffington Post by email via a translator.
The bidding ends Dec. 12, but Migliorini said the minimum bid for her to get into bed is $100,000. She told the Brazilian website PurePeople.com.br that her goal is to get $1.5 million.
Migliorini's previous auction was part of a proposed documentary called Virgins Wanted being made by Australian filmmaker Justin Sisely.
The auction made Migliorini a celebrity and Playboy cover girl in her native country, but also aroused controversy and skepticism.

The Most Haunted Places on Earth
As children we have heard a lot many fairy tales but with those fairy
tales we have also heard some scary ghost stories as well. Well even
though we hardly recall the fairy tales but for sure we remember the
freaky ghost stories. They still haunt us in our dreams. If this is not
enough to digest then let us brief you about some best haunted places on
earth that would really give you that real jolt. Drowse yourself in a
pure hair raising experience.
Bhangarh Fort, India
Bhangarh Fort / Castle is located on the way to Alwar and Jaipur in Rajasthan in India. As per a legend there was a black magic sorcerer who cursed the residents of the palace that they all would die an unnatural death and their spirits will stay there for centuries to haunt the castle for time immemorial. This fort would really freak any living mortal. One can seldom find a temporary household in the close periphery of this fort. Let us reveal you one more fact about this place. The village households found here are without roofs as there persists a popular belief and experience that the moment a rooftop is built on a house it collapses. This is said to be the most freaky place in India. Believe us it is also said that anybody who has been to this place after dusk never comes back !
Highgate Cemetery, North London, England
This is just like watching a horror flick of Alfred Hitchcock in reality. By the time dusk settles down the ultimate horror environment starts to descend on the panorama. Highgate cemetery is one ideal place for ghost hunters. Headless statues, creaky pathways, unmanaged grass pavements and lest we forget the typical hooting of owls is a common feature to be found in this place. High gate cemetery also scores the top slot in being the haunted places in United Kingdom. Still one cannot ignore the Gothic architecture, beautiful serene ambiance and lest we forget the shivery silence which overrules the entire arena!
Screaming Tunnel, Niagara Falls, Ontario
This one is for those brave hearts boasting hard of their fearless spirits. This is located beneath the railway track that connects Niagara falls to Toronto and New York. As per a legend about a century ago there was a farm house located just near the south entrance of this tunnel. One night the farm house caught fire and a young girl doused in flame screaming for help running wild.Nobody knows the story how the farm house caught fire. She ran through the tunnel if in case she could get some help but alas she was burnt completely and collapsed. So from that day onwards whoever tries lighting a match in the tunnel the spirit comes out screaming and haunting the person till dead. Some say you might also see the ghost of the girl’s father coming into the end of the tunnel.
Changi Beach, Singapore
Changi Beach in Singapore is the ultimate one. The Changi beach in Singapore is believed of being a popular killing ground of the Chinese soldiers by the Japanese during the second world war. Thousands of Chinese soldiers were tortured and killed during this operation as they were suspected by the Japanese of getting into anti Japanese activities. This beach stands witness to the killing of innumerable innocent chinese. Till date beach combers thronging to this place could hear the screams and weeping of people. Often at night people could also find deep dig pits as that needed for burials of dead bodies. The most horrifying is that some beach combers have found headless bodies of chinese soldiers on the beach at night.
Monte Cristo, New South Wales, Australia
Monte Christo mansion is recalled by travellers as a place which shouldn't even haunt the memories. As per people's version Mrs Crawley the owner of this mansion locked herself up after the death of her husband and never came out in the rest 23 years of her life except for once. She died in there and her spirit lingers in the mansion. Passerby could hear the shrills and weeping of a woman. People who visit the mansion get suffocated as if some spirit is trying to press in them. They get respite of the shackles only when they come out. Instances have also been cited of people turning blue.

Dead Paramedic Buried in coffin painted as Ambulance
OSLO, Norway-- A paramedic from Norway who died recently was buried in a coffin decorated like an ambulance, his family said.
Before Paul Rorset was buried, his coffin was taken on a procession to his childhood home and was then carried to Otroy church in Midsund municipality by his co-workers, who dressed in full uniform, The Local.no reported.
"He said that he wanted it, but he said it almost as a joke," his daughter Jeanette Rorset told TV2. "But the ambulance service was such an important part of his life, and he worked around the clock, so we decided to do it."
The coffin was painted by the same company that paints the ambulances Rorset used to drive.
"They were a little skeptical of the mission at first, but later they found it quite fun," said local undertaker Arild Kirkeland.

Exorcism: Facts and Fictions
The belief that demons exist and can possess people is of course the
stuff of fiction and horror films — but it is also one of the most
widely-held religious beliefs in the world. Most religions claim that
humans can be possessed by demonic spirits (the Bible, for example,
recounts six instances of Jesus casting out demons), and offer exorcisms
to remedy this threat.
World's First Test-Tube Burger!!!!
It may look like something you’d chuck on the barbecue without a second
thought, but this round of meat costs a very beefy £250,000 — as the
world’s first test-tube burger.
After the patty was lightly fried in a little butter and sunflower oil yesterday, the two volunteers chosen to taste it in front of a live audience were hardly effusive, though.
‘I was expecting the texture to be more soft,’ said Austrian food researcher Hanni Rutzler, taking 27 chews before being able to swallow a mouthful. ‘It’s close to meat — it’s not that juicy.’

Monkey Attacked Baby, Tore Off Testicle And Ate It
A vicious monkey attack at a wildlife park in Guiyang, China, maimed an 8-month-old boy, according to Chinese state media.
The boy's mother was changing his dirty diaper at Guiyang Qianling Wildlife Park, where monkeys roam free. The animal reportedly attacked the boy, tearing off his testicle and dropping it. According to the Mirror, a man recovered the testicle, but the monkey then "snatched it from his hand before scampering away and eating it."
There is conflicting information about the attack. The Daily Mail reported that both of the boy's testicles were torn off, but that only one was eaten by the monkey.
The boy has been hospitalized. Though disfiguring, his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Just two months ago, an Arkansas man paralyzed from the waist down awoke to "burning pain" in his midsection, and was horrified to discover that a stray dog he had taken in had eaten one of his testicles while he slept.

Very Interesting Facts About The Whales
|
1. Whales need to breathe air
You likely already know that whales breathe by taking in air though their blowhole.
2. Whales can’t sleep for very long?
This is because they have to remember to go to the surface for air as needed.
3. Whales' brain sleep one half at the time
In order to make sure that whales perform the basic functions to breathe, only one half of their brain will sleep at a time. This is the only way that they are able to get the amount of rest that they need and still take care of this function that is necessary for their bodies to survive.
4. Whale Males are not easy to identify.
It is common for male whales to be misidentified out there due to the location of their genitals. When they aren’t in use, these parts of the body are actually tucked inside of a cavity. This allows them to swim faster. Therefore you do need to really look at other factors before you classify a whale as either male or female.
5. Whales are mammals, calves grow inside their mothers.
Do you know that newborn whales are born fin first which means the back end of their body first? Researchers believe this is done so that the calf is less likely to drown when it is born. All of their young are born alive and are able to be cared for immediately after birth.
6. Whales are cetaceans, mammals fully adapted to aquatic life.
Whales are believed to be the only mammals that are able to adapt to the changing environment in the waters. This is important due to the impact that humans have had on their natural living environment.
7. Whales swim as fast as 30 miles per hour.
Whales can swim at a rate of about 30 miles per hour. However, most people think they are much slower because they often don’t have to be in such a hurry so they simply glide around the water.
8. Whales have hair.
Most people don’t think that whales have hair but they do. However, it is very thin and very light so unless you are seeing one up close you wouldn’t think it was there at all.
9. Whales are warm blooded.
Whales are warm blooded mammals so they have to keep a high body temperature. Since they don’t have much hair they rely on layers of fat called blubber. You will find that the younger whales have more hair than the adults. As a baby gets older it will develop more blubber and then the hair will start to disappear.
10. Whales are the largest animals in the world.
You likely are aware of the fact that whales can be extremely large. The Blue Whale is the biggest one out there. Most experts agree that the Blue Whale is the largest mammal that ever been on Earth as well as the loudest. They can be up to 105 feet long. The smallest whale is the Dwarf Sperm Whale. It is only about 8 feet long.
11. The most dangerous predators for Whales are humans
The only predator that whales have to content with are humans. They aren’t bothered by any other creatures in the water. However, the changes to their food source, hunting by humans, and even pollution to the waters that they live in can affect their abilities to survive which is why they continue to try to adapt to the environment that they are in.
As you can see, there are plenty of facts that are fun to learn about whales. Exploring them in more detail is a great way to enhance your knowledge of these amazing mammals. You may find that you want to learn all you can about them because they are definitely interesting and enjoyable creatures.

Male spiders can sniff out a well fed female spider
Simply by taking a
little saunter across the female’s web, a male black widow can sense if a
female is hungry or not. Why does it matter? Because female black widow
spiders have a rather freaky habit of eating the male after mating.
It’s how they earned their dangerous name.
The Smell Of Safety
Males have developed this very useful technique, which tells them whether or not a female has recently eaten. But if a female is hungry, she would be more likely to cannibalize the male spider. They take a sniff of those silk strands and then decide if they want to proceed or scurry away. A new study discovered this interesting skill and published the findings in the journal Animal Behaviour. So, how do researchers actually go about testing something like this?
Feeding Time For The Ladies
First things first. The researchers fed a bunch of hungry female back widow spiders. Using a cricket neatly held between forceps, they rested it on the web and waited for the female to come over, wrap the cricket in silk and chow down. The females got one cricket each week. Yet, by the time the fourth week came around, they weren’t so hungry anymore and didn’t really want to eat the crickets.
Another bunch of female black widow spiders were starved for a few weeks. It apparently didn’t put their lives at risk, but they did get a bit smaller. Now, let’s find out what happened when a male was placed on the web of a well fed or a starved spider.
Since the male spiders can pick up scents with their feet, they were able to figure out the difference from one female to another just by walking on the web. Normally, a male black widow spider has a special dance he does to court the female.
In this experiment, the males danced far more actively on the webs of well fed females. Smart dudes! If anything, dancing and mating would leave them ready to eat – not be eaten! Typically, they dance around for an hour or two, which sure shows their dedication to the purpose. They wave their legs and pluck and tap at the web in a unique way, so that unlike prey they show the female they are interested to mate rather than become dinner.
If Only I Had Such Powers
Now I have a strong sense of smell but definitely nothing like these male black widow spiders. It’s too bad because I’m really scared of spiders even though I know most are harmless. If I had my way, I’d be able to simply smell any spider from several meters away. That would give my timid self enough time to run!

Central Pa. farmer's corn crop yields 4-headed ear
HANOVER, Pa. (AP) — When farmer Ben Klunk tells people about the mutant corn he found, they're all ears.
Klunk said Wednesday he discovered an ear of sweet corn with four heads on his central Pennsylvania farm and has been keeping it in his refrigerator.
Klunk said that when he pulled the corn out of the crop he initially thought there was mud holding it together, but his wife said that wasn't the case.
"It started out as one," Marie Klunk said, "and then it split, and then another one split."
The farmer, who's 81, said he's never seen corn multiply in such a way: He'd never found a double- or triple-headed ear of corn, let alone a quadruple one.
"And I've pulled a lot of sweet corn!" he said.
The Klunks said they don't plan to eat the corn, which was pulled from their farmland in Hanover, 20 miles southwest of the state capital, Harrisburg, and was first reported by The Evening Sun newspaper. They said if it stays fresh for another 10 days they'll enter it into a contest at the South Mountain 4-H Fair.
But the Klunks aren't sure it'll last that long in the refrigerator and suspect it's already turning. If that happens, they said, they'll just throw the mutated husk away.

Sleep Artist
A SLEEP artist is set to appear at one of London's most bizarre attractions after shocking sleep experts with his artistic talents.
On Friday, Lee himself will make an appearance at the Piccadilly Circus venue where he will be meeting members of the public and signing his prints, which he creates whilst in a state of sleep.
"The Ripley’s Believe It or Not! brand is such a good fit for my pieces," Hadwin said. "I’m excited to have a pop-up exhibition somewhere that celebrates all that is different and I hope that the visitors will enjoy my unusual talent and the pieces I’ve created."
Hadwin has been described by the Edinburgh Sleep Clinic and the Art World as truly "unique." He has been studied by doctors and scientists both in the UK and overseas but his nocturnal artistic activities are a still mystery.
However, he is unable to produce such pieces whilst awake but his skills whilst asleep have developed over the years to become more detailed and demand for his pieces from art galleries and exhibitions across the globe continues to grow.

High Heels were made for men to wear originally!!!
It’s probably fair to say that any
woman’s wardrobe simply wouldn’t be complete without a pair of striking
killer heels. From kitten heel slip-ons, sensible court shoes, and
sensational summer wedges, women today really are spoilt for choice when
it comes to footwear.
Heels
have been a part of fashion for many centuries but surprisingly enough,
these elegant shoes which give extra height and posture were not solely
reserved for women. Dukes and Monarchs alike (Louis XIV in particular)
were well known for their extravagant shoes with elaborate decorations
sometimes depicting scenes of battle. Back in those days, many shoes
that were custom designed for Louis XIV boasted a heel of anywhere up to
ten inches!
While heels are predominantly reserved
for women, there have been occasions throughout history where they have
featured heavily as a practical and fashion element for men. Let’s take
the Romans for example; both men and women wore sandals with a platform
heel, known as Cothurns, in an attempt to raise the wearer above the
mud and rubbish in the streets. Cowboy boots were first developed as an
attempt to stop the foot sliding through stirrups while on horseback,
and of course, who could forget the highly popular platform shoes worn
by both men and women during the 1970’s.
Originally reserved for the aristocracy,
heeled shoes soon filtered down the rungs of society and became
acceptable footwear for all. The heel itself became less of a practical
necessity and developed into what we see and wear today however, the
sight of a man gracefully strutting down the high street in six inch
stilettos is somewhat of a rarity nowadays.
999 Calls
One
caller reported maggots in her bin, another called for "pregnancy
pills" while another complained about a stolen parking space.
Greater Manchester Police dealt with an average of 3,571 emergency and non-emergency calls a day during April, May and June.
That increased by 19% in July, according to the force.
Diane Grandidge, GMP's business lead for call-handling, said: "Every false or inappropriate 999 call wastes precious time that could be spent dealing with genuine emergencies.
"Apart from potentially putting somebody's life at risk, misusing the 999 system is a criminal offence and we have the power to prosecute people for making hoax calls.
"Each day we receive dozens of calls about issues that the police are not responsible for, such as noise nuisance, stray dogs and abandoned cars.
"Answering these calls leads to delays in people trying to get through to us for legitimate reasons so please think ahead and decide whether it may be an issue for the council before picking up the phone."
Officers reminded people to only ring 999 if there is a direct and immediate threat to life or property, or if a crime is in progress, while for general inquiries or to report less urgent crime or disorder, they should call 101.
101 is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and there is a single flat rate charge of 15p, no matter how long the duration of the call, what time of day or whether you are calling from a landline or mobile phone.
Calls about noisy neighbours, stray dogs, graffiti, abandoned vehicles, fly-tipping or faulty traffic lights should go to local councils.

Roach Motel
At age 20, Kyle Kandilian of
Dearborn, Mich., has created a start-up business to fund his college
expenses, but it involves a roomful (in the family home) of nearly
200,000 cockroaches. The environmental science major at University of
Michigan-Dearborn breeds species ranging from the familiar household
pests, which he sells on the cheap as food for other people's pets, to
the more interesting, exotic Madagascar hissing roaches and rhino
roaches, which can live for 10 to 15 years. (Kandilian told the Detroit
Free Press in July that of the 4,000 cockroach species, only about a
dozen are pests.) Why not choose a more conventional "pet"? Because
"(m)ammals smell," he said. (Missing from the Free Press story: details
on the likely interesting initial conversation between Kyle and his
mother when he asked if he could have 200,000 cockroaches in the house.)

Earth is gradually slowing down. Every few years, an extra second is added to make up for lost time. Millions of years ago, a day on Earth will have been 20 hours long. It is believed that, in millions of years time, a day on Earth will be 27 hours long.
The centre of the Earth, its core, is molten. This means that it is liquid rock which sometimes erupts onto the surface through volcanic eruptions. This core is 7,500°c, hotter than the surface of the Sun!
From a distance, Earth would be the brightest of the planets. This is because sunlight is reflected off the planet's water.
